World Access announces the 2008 Access Abroad scholarship recipients - two Henrico high school students - that will each receive scholarships of $2,500 for study abroad. The scholarships will be presented by World Access President and CEO Jon Ansell at a ceremony at the company's headquarters.
A national survey by Access America has found that summer vacations will likely be down seven percent this year compared with 2007. The survey of 1,000 adults, ages 18+, found that 40 percent of respondents took a vacation last year, while just 33 percent plan to take one this year.
Reflecting Americans' increasing exasperation at the pump, the latest Access America Travel Frustration Index - a quarterly barometer that tracks a range of factors that impact both business and leisure travelers - jumped three points in the first quarter of 2008. Almost nine in 10 respondents to the national survey (88%) reported frustration with gas prices, up from 78 percent in late 2007. The increased frustration prompted a three-point jump in the aggregated Index hassle-factor.

In anticipation of federal rebate checks intended to stimulate an uncertain economy, a survey commissioned by Access America finds most Americans say they will spend the money on such basic necessities as groceries and gas as well as more discretionary purchases like travel and electronics.
Spring break traditionally provides families with welcome winter relief. But this year, according to a survey commissioned by Access America, nearly half of American families with children say the uncertainty about the U.S. economy is causing them to make more modest spring break plans, with most deciding to simply stay at home.
