As the dog days of summer begin to wind down and the Labor Day weekend looms large on America’s calendar, millions will take to the roads, the skies and the beaches to squeeze out one last vacation before the kids grab the books and backpacks and head back to school. Mondial Assistance, the global leader in travel and specialty insurance, announced this week that Beth Godlin has been promoted to managing director of Mondial Assistance USA. Godlin has more than 25 years with the company most recently as executive vice president, chief sales & marketing officer. In her new position as managing director, she will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the company.

Despite a wealth of online resources, travel agents remain an important and valued resource for travel planning. That's according to a recent survey from global travel insurance and assistance provider Mondial Assistance USA, which is best known for its Access America brand of travel insurance. The survey found that most Americans (70%) say they would consider using a travel agent to plan important trips and special vacations.

America needs a vacation, suggests a national survey commissioned by Mondial Assistance. According to the survey, four in ten (39 percent) Americans haven't had a vacation - defined as leisure travel of a least a week to a destination at least 100 miles from home - in the last two years, up from 33 percent who said the same last year. An additional 17 percent of Americans haven't taken a vacation in over a year, meaning 56 percent of Americans haven't taken a vacation recently (39 percent more than two years and 17 percent more than a year).

Nearly six million more American households have plans to take a vacation this summer compared with last year, leading to an almost $7 billion projected increase in summer vacation spending. That's according to a survey released today by global travel assistance company Mondial Assistance USA and its Access America brand of travel insurance. In all, Americans plan to spend $76 billion on summer vacations in 2010.

Mondial Assistance announces the six students from Henrico, Powhatan, and Charlottesville that have been awarded the 2010 ScholarTrips scholarships. Recipients receive scholarships of $2,500 each for educational study abroad programs of the students' choosing.

The United States, France and Australia led the company in revenue, balancing the company’s revenue and operations between the Americas, Europe and Asia-Pacific zones.

Mondial Assistance and the Computerized Airline Sales and Marketing Association (CASMA) announced today that a fundraiser held during a reception at CASMA's spring conference in Montréal raised enough money to purchase a saturation/end tidal carbon dioxide monitor for the Department of Anesthesia at The Montréal Children's Hospital. This state-of-the-art equipment will be used in the operating rooms while young patients are undergoing complex surgeries.
