ScholarTrips - International Travel Scholarships

Mondial Assistance believes in young people's ability to shape our future. We also support international travel as a learning experience. As such, we have an annual scholarship program called ScholarTrips that awards the winners of an essay competition $2,500 to help them participate in an approved international study abroad program.

Thank you for applying. All of our winners have been notified. Look for information on next year’s program in early 2011.

  • Have a 2.75 minimum GPA
  • At the time of submitting this application, be enrolled as a middle school or high school student residing in Virginia in the city of Richmond or counties of Henrico, Hanover, Chesterfield, Goochland, Powhatan, New Kent or Charles City
  • Have a meaningful financial need for the scholarship
  • Supply information associated with the study abroad trip you are planning (described in Section IV) and submit any paperwork you may have associated with the trip (itinerary, etc.)
  • Submit a completed ScholarTrips application, including the essay (described in Section V)
  • Provide a recommendation from at least one teacher or counselor on why the student is a good candidate for the scholarship (described in Section VI)
  • Certify that he or she (and his or her parents if he or she is under 18 years of age) has read and agreed to all terms and conditions of the ScholarTrips Scholarship Program Official Rules, attached to the application and available by clicking here:
  • Applications should be filled out completely and accurately.
  • Winners will be chosen by the ScholarTrips Scholarship selection committee comprised of Mondial Assistance representatives.

Winners of the Scholarship will be announced by April 16, 2010.

"I wanted to express my appreciation since this scholarship provided me with an experience of a lifetime. Last summer, I immersed myself in another culture, advanced my foreign languages skills, developed a wonderful friendship with my host family, and grew as a person.

When I look back on my life, those weeks spent in Germany are among the best. Some of the most memorable aspects include: speaking and learning with classes of German students; celebrating at the Brandenburg Gate with 80,000 fans in Berlin and Pforzheim, where my host sister lived, during Germany's victories in the Eurocup soccer tournament; visiting Munich and Heidelberg; discovering pieces of the Berlin wall, and yes, riding in a new Porsche at 182 MPH on the Autobahn with my host father and sister.
